Special entry requirements

In view of the international focus of the degree, 50% of the credits for the programme will be taught through English. For this reason, students must show proof of English language proficiency at a level equivalent to B1 or higher in order to be eligible to register.

Students entering university through the Galician public secondary school system with a grade average in English of 7 or more over their final two years are exempt from the requirement to show proof of English language proficiency at a level equivalent to B1 or higher, as the universities are already in possession of this information. Only students entering the degree from a private Galician secondary school or a public or private school in a different region of Spain are required to show proof of their grade average in order to register.

Students with a grade average in English of less than 7 may also certify their English language proficiency by one of the following alternative methods:

  1. Official B1 certificate (as recognised by the Association of Higher Education Language Centres (ACLES): acles.es).
  2. Certificate/proof of attendance of a school in an English-speaking country for fourth, fifth and/or sixth year of their secondary education.
  3. B1.2 (or higher) diploma of attendance and achievement or B1 (or higher) diploma of proficiency from the University of A Coruña Language Centre (or other Spanish university language centre).

  1. Firstly, applications from students who obtained the university qualification required for entry to the degree programme in question either in June of the current year or in previous academic years, and who submit their application within the specified deadline.

To allocate the available places amongst students in the same situation, the average mark on the academic transcript for the qualifying studies will be taken into account; this will be calculated in accordance with the provisions of the second section of the Collaboration Protocol signed between the Regional Ministry of Education and University Planning and the Universities of Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña and Vigo, published by Resolution of 15 September 2011 of the Technical General Secretariat of the aforementioned Regional Ministry (DOG of 30/09/2011).

Finally, it should be noted that, in order to facilitate access and retention for students with special needs arising from disability or other forms of difference compared to the majority population (which cause such individuals to experience various forms of discrimination and avoidable barriers in accessing higher education and in the normal course of their academic and/or professional lives), the UDC, through the University Unit for Diversity Support (ADI), has established several specific support programmes, covering both entry to the University (pre-university students) and personalised and group support during their time at the University. The University of Vigo also has various programmes and tools designed to ensure the full integration into university life of students with specific educational support needs. Among the most significant programmes is the Programme for the Integration of University Students with Specific Educational Support Needs (PIUNE). This programme aims to support our students with any such needs or legally recognised learning difficulties. These students may receive, amongst other things, support, guidance and advice from UNATEN (the University Outreach Service) at the University of Vigo; study support (curriculum adaptations, technical support resources, etc.); or assistance with various activities provided by volunteer staff from the University of Vigo.

The transfer and recognition of credits shall be carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article 10 of Royal Decree 822/2021, of 28 September.
